If this is your first visit, please use the Lernermedia Blog tab at the top of the page to enter the commentary site. Posts are currently  listed chronologically and are also categorized by places (e.g., France, Italy, etc) or other classifications.

Comments

We remain undecided about whether to include comments. This is a personal project, and with hectic media production schedules we don’t have the time to adequately manage comment sections.  We certainly trust our friends and colleagues, but our brief experiments with comments sections provide us with ample evidence that while the Internet provides unparalleled opportunities to enhance global communication and connectivity, it is also remains a Wild West frontier populated by hoards of hacks and vandals armed with poison-pens.

In general, entries retrieved from archives do not import associated comment threads. However, as we experiment with this feature, you may find posts that still have comments attached.  In those cases, the views expressed are those of the contributors and do not necessarily reflect the views of LernerMedia.

If/when comments are allowed, please follow the guidelines below (especially regarding the name format used for comments).

This site is fully moderated and comments will not post publicly until reviewed (and this might take several days or weeks, depending on our location and schedules) However, as long as comments are in accord with the appended guidelines, they will be  published.

Cheers,

Lee

Comment Guidelines

1. Civility. Be civil.  End of story.

And for all you English majors out there fretting about “be civil,” WellI got your conjugation right here.  ;o

2. Posting your name. For starters and to protect privacy, please use the same naming convention as we use in the forum. Use your first name, an underscore, and then the first letter of your last name. Please add your location in parans.

Example: Al Gore would be Al_G (Nashville).

If you make a mistake, one of our editors will ultimately correct your name and location to match our records. We will continue to  revisit this name policy. If you have special concerns or are a colleague posting from a location that offers special challenges, please contact me by private email post.

3. Expect typos.  Most of these posts are composed “on the fly” by moi,  the self-confessed “typo king.”  My combination of multiple languages, spellcheck “corrections,”  and my big thumbs poking at small electronic devices produces odd and sometimes confusing or amusing results.  This journal is not intended as a finished professional product. Associate editors and colleagues helping us are tasked only to review comments or manage technical aspects of the journal, not correct mistakes.  If, however, you are an English major and you really can’t exercise social self-control, or you are a normal person and spot a more substantial (i.e., embarrassing) error, please send me a post  and I’ll correct it asap. Brenda’s posts will, of course, be perfect.

4. We must respect our workproduct and confidentiality commitments to our clients. For example, questions and comments from colleagues and advisors about LernerMedia projects should continue to be posted on our internal forum sites.
